in explaining the incorrect ans,the book says a pronoun like those must refer to an already expressed nouns, so those must follow teachings
can we say it a specific rule or do we have any ex where this rule is negative

Sikhism is singular and "those" is a pronoun referring to a plural noun. So, Those must properly refer to "teachings".

when you have this sort of initial modifier, it can include a pronoun that refers to an IMMEDIATELY following noun (i.e., a noun that follows very closely behind the comma).

example:

like his father, Seth's mother is extremely intelligent.
--> this is ok.
like Seth's father, his mother is extremely intelligent.
--> this is incorrect; we don't know whose mother (i.e., Seth's mother or Seth's father's mother -- the sentence could potentially refer to either.)
