Ok, guys. I am hoping to change my job profile from a low level techie (coding monkey) to a manager (leadership/strategy/decision making). I would also like to not be in IT anymore.
Below are my facts. Realistically, what are my chances and where can I apply in Europe (as I'd prefer a 1 year program)?
0) Indian
1) Age 33!
2) GMAT 710.
3) Bachelor's in Computer Engineering (70% marks)
4) Master's in Biomedical Engineering (GPA 3.53)
5) 10 plus years of experience in IT including Healthcare IT with 5 plus years in USA; currently working in US.
6) 2 publications in Biomedical journals.
7) No leadership or management experience (my current title is Senior Software Engineer)

You are coming from a large applicant pool (Indian, Male, IT), but you have a great GMAT score and decent work experience. As you correctly identify, the lack of mgt and leadership could be your achilles heel. What you want to do is dig deep in your experience to see where you have demonstrated at least leadership potential (have you lead a project, for example? been on a team where you had increased responsibilities?). Everyone can generally find ways to show some sort of leadership. At the very least, you need to get some real advocates at your employer to go to bat for you on recomendations, so that they can identify you as a top performer among your peers and someone in whom they see much potential to lead. Good luck.

With a 710 GMAT, I would still target the top schools in Europe and go to the best school you can get into. All the usual suspects are fair game: HEC Paris France; London Business School, UK; Insead, France; IMD, Switzerland; IE Business School or Iese in Spain; Rotterdam School of Management; Erasmus University, Netherlands; Lyon Business School, France; Esade Business School, Spain; Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, Belgium; Essec Business School, France; ESCP Europe France / UK / Germany / Spain / Italy ; City University Cass, UK; Cranfield School of Management , UK.
