710 (q48, v38) 92%

Finally after months of dilly-dallying gave my GMAT and got 710. I am pretty disappointed with the score as my testprep scores were 730 and 750.

I am not sure how good these scores will be for me to get into a decent full time program. I have a MS with 4.0 GPA and 6 years of experience in IT industry.

Should i retake the exam? Is it even worth the effort or is it just for my own moral gratification? Unfortunately even though it is a big burden off my shoulder, i am not really happy. Thoughts comments suggestions?

Congrats on the 710!

I understand how you feel. I was a bit disappointed with my 710 because I had higher practice scores. However, your 710 is very balanced. If I were you, I wouldn't waste any more time with the GMAT. I suggest you move on to your applications.

In my opinion, 710 is enough for any school. As long as you have a strong overall application, a 710 won't set you back from a top 10 school.

I will be applying to schools this coming Fall. My school list is pretty big right now, I am trying to narrow it down by visiting campuses, researching, and talking with students.

I just back from my exam, and I'm in a somewhat similar boat. I didn't get high practice scores though, but I hadn't taken a full practice test in the final two weeks of preparation, so I dont know how much my GMAT score reflected my ability (whether I underachieved, overachieved, or about right). What I do know is that I messed up pretty bad when I struggled with the first question on the Quant, and lost track of time. When I finally answered the first question, I looked at the clock and it said 65 minutes remaining ... so I took 10 minutes to solve the first question on the exam!!!!! I rushed like crazy, blindly guessed on a few that I knew was going to take too much time to solve given I was already very short on time. I still somehow miraculously ended up with a 47 in Quant (and 38V) and a 700 overall score.

I can't help but feel I would have done even better had I not totally lost track of time, which is making me want to retake the exam. Plus i barely missed the 80-80 split (78 and 83). I'm also unsure if I really want to re-do it, given how taxing it has been to study, the extra 250 I'd have to shell out, and whether it would even impact my chances of acceptance all that much if I have a 720 as opposed to a 700.

I'm in a little bit of a different situation, as I just graduated and would have extra time to test. I told myself when I took the test today that if I scored a below a 720, then I would take it again in about 2 months after I get back from brief break at another country.

But.. on the flip side, if time is a pressing matter for you, then maybe it'd be better to focus on other parts of the app. I would take a look at the b-school admission forum and see what people with similar profiles are getting interviews at.

You guys should be content with your 700, 710, 720 etc as all these scores are the same and will not hurt your admission to any school.
Your check-mark for the GMAT section by the Admissions will be there, no worries.
