X and Y are a positive numbers, is X is smaller than Y?

(1) Square Root of X < Square Root of Y
(2) (X-3)^2 < (Y-3)^2

I guess answer is both are not sufficient to answer the question.

As both the cases we are not sure whether the +ve or -ve roots are taken.

as it is always (+/-) Square root of a number.

so answer should be E
