women scientists 36

by real2008 » Fri Jul 03, 2009 2:10 am
Like their male counterparts, women scientists are above average in terms of intelligence and creativity, but unlike men of science, their female counterparts have had to work against the grain of occupational stereotyping to enter a “man’s world.”
(A) their female counterparts have had to work
(B) their problem is working
(C) one thing they have had to do is work
(D) the handicap women of science have had is to work
(E) women of science have had to work

Why not
A?
I think answer is E

A is not correct as it is not parallel in the original sentence they are talkin about "but unlike men of science"
so choice E seems to be better

Whats the OA and source of this question?

Need to correctly compare to "men of science".

Only E does this by starting with "women".

E is more precise and maintains parallelism.

Is it a GPrep Q?pls confirm.
Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working.
