The sloth, which is a South American mammal related to armadillos and anteaters, live in tropical forests where they travel through the trees upside down.

Awhich is a South American mammal related to armadillos and anteaters, live in tropical forests where they travel

B a South American mammal related to armadillos and anteaters, live in tropical forests where they travel

C a South American mammal related to the armadillo and the anteater, lives in tropical forests where it travels

D a South American mammal related to the armadillo and the anteater, lives in tropical forests where they travel

E a South American mammal in relation to the armadillo and the anteater, lives in tropical forests where it travels

OA E BUT I CHOOSE C and the only difference it's the use of related to and in relation to, it's the first to be always prefered there's a grammar rule about their use
thanks in advance

The sloth, which is a South American mammal related to armadillos and anteaters, live in tropical forests where they travel through the trees upside down.

The Sloth is singular.

A which is a South American mammal related to armadillos and anteaters, live in tropical forests where they travel

OA is not correct. E cannot be the right answer. C is correct. :)

Sorry mohit11 you're right OA C but can you explain why E is wrong?

For one, in relation to is wordier than related to. Why would you use 2 words i.e. (in relation) when you can convey the same meaning with "related".

Secondly (this bit i am not so sure of), in relation to is usually used to comparisons, consider the following sentence. "GMAT Performance in Relation to Performance on TOEFL", here we are trying to show association rather than comparison.

Tom is related to Samantha.

Tom is in relation to Samantha.

Clearly, first sentence is better.

Hope it helps.

The sloth, which is a South American mammal related to armadillos and anteaters, live in tropical forests where they travel through the trees upside down.

Which is a relative pronoun used to connect two independent clause. '"The sloth "" cannot be a clause as it does not which should have a subject and verb. So rule out A. The sloth (ignore the part between commas) is sigular so lives is the correct verb form whilr they is not. Strike out B and D.
C in relation to E seems the saner option.

'related to' and 'in relation to' have different meanings, the latter of which means 'in comparison to'. That would make E incorrect, because they arent comparing the animals.

Mohit's explanation about E makes sense. IMO C is correct answer.
