Help me decide which score to report!

Maybe somebody can advice what to do in this situation... I have passed the GMAT twice and the outcome was the same - 700. BUT! The first time I scored 78 for math and over 80 for verbal. The second time I scored 93 for math, but... only about 70 for verbal (I don't know what has happened to me - I was a bit ill and probably lost concentration by the end of the exam). So... the overall score is the same, but the differences between the sections are great. So what score would you recommend me to report? I am happy about my math, but the verbal of only 70 makes me upset... I am a foreigner, not from the US and English is not my native language. So, what would you recommend in this situation?

it does not matter cos schools see your grades from your last five gmat tests.

I cosign with westsew's comment... the schools will see both scores anyway so don't worry about it.

it does not matter cos schools see your grades from your last five gmat tests.

I could be wrong but there could be an instance when that isn't true.

If you report your score the first time you take the test to say 5 schools then you take it a second time and report to no schools, the schools will only see the first test scores.

In your situation (because both scores are decent), I might reach out to the admissions office and ask for the school's specific policy, but, it is my understanding that there are schools who will look at "parts" of your score. If this is true at the schools you are looking at, you could submit the higher portions to both. Of course, before doing this, you must ask an admissions representative.

If they won't let you submit just one, I'd suggest submitting both. It is VERY helpful to show a quant score in the 90s, but, if you aren't also submitting TOEFL, you may want them to see the 80 for verbal.

I know this isn't a perfect answer, but, try to submit both (or the 2 higher parts)!

Thanks for taking out the time. Since i am in a situation similar to that of the original poster of this thread, I would like to know of a few examples of schools that look at scores in 'parts'.

I don't know specifically but I have heard that this is sometimes the case (sorry, I know that isn't very helpful!). In certain circumstances, it might be worth checking with the Adcom. However, be careful that there is no guarantee that they won't see both parts of a score, so, it only makes sense if the other part is at least acceptable. I think this is a good option if both scores are 700ish, but, not such a great option if your scores are lower.

If anyone else has more info on this, I would also be curious to know!!
