What is the total surface area of rectangular solid R?

1) the surface area of one of the faces of R is 48
2) the length of one of the edges of R is 3

The catch is in the word - rectangular solid R. It is not saying cube or so. Though R is rectangular solid, it can happen that length of one side is less than that of the other. So 1 is not giving the full information so as with 2. So E is the best option to chose.
