I just beat the GMAT! From 660 to 710 !

Hi All,

Took the Gmat on 15th Feb 2010..and scored a 710( QA_50 , VA-36) !

I would recommend Kaplan 800 and Mgmat tests to all. Kaplan 800 was the only difference study material I used after my ist dismal GMAT. Studied the whole of Jan and rigorously in Feb. After a while when studying at home became boring ..i started studying in Barista and CCD....and not to forget the noisy and crowded Delhi metro! Studying in public places improved my concentration and made me comfortable with the exam. Just dont follow this mechanism blindly!

On the G-Day..QA seemed like a cakewalk. VA squeezed my blood! It looked like the Dracula who had come down to punish me for some past life sins :(
I took almost 15 min to ans my first 2 VA ques..both SC! I then kept my cool and somehow finished in time with 10 min for the last 2 ques. Keeping cool is the mantra guys. I know I couldnt have done any better in VA, so I'm satisfied.

Now i'm hoping to apply to one year programs. INSEAD seems too high a shot. I have just under 3 yrs of wrk ex.
Will apply to ISB, NUS and IMD.

My profile- Analyst with an IT consultancy. Hold a masters in International Biz. Have some interesting things to talk bt my work.

Can anyone suggest me whether my profile is competitive for IMD ? and how good is HEC paris? I badly need scholarships. Do these schools provide good scholarships?

Let me first congratulate you on your achievement..well done :)

Wow !! I was felling lazy and was planning to sleep now, just then I thought to click on 'I just Beat The GMAT" link and now I'm off my bed..writing this one..

Did you really spend 15 mins on starting 2 SCs and still you were able to finish before time ( I presume). I would have gone mad at that moment. You gave me hope..thanks..I will try to stay calm.

Are you targeting Sep,2010 intake ? If so then 'yes' chances are really weak; otherwise, 3 year is enough for INSEAD, but of course less for IMD.

You can try IESE or IE, if you are interested in Spain.
I am on a break !!

HEC Paris is a great school, and I think your stats fall in line with what they're looking for. Well respected program in Europe, not so much in the states if that's where you plan to come afterwards.

I think you should still apply to Insead if you fit the language requirement. What's the worst that can happen? Rejection? Although I don't know the scholarship situation. I think all schools have scholarships though, it's just a matter of whether or not you qualify for them and which gives the most money. Check the admissions website

Congratulations on your score though! You got what I'm aiming for! I need to work on getting my Quant score up a bit higher.
My goal is to make MBA applicants take onus over their process.

Thanks guys.
Yes...i did waste 15 min on first 2 sc ques n 10 min on last 2 sc ques...25 min gone on 4 ques!!! SC kills me...inspite of ALL d practice..

Yes, I am keen on HEC Paris as I see they have a good marketing track. My reason for not choosing any of the US schools is the 2 yr duration. I cant study that long!

INSEAD will be a dream come true...will keep my fingers crossed .

For quant, i've heard..not tried tho...800 score is good..

ATB everyone!
