This is a much v/s many question.
Since the sentence talks about the increase in cases and not the cases itself we use much instead of many.

Eliminated B and E.

In C they lacks the antecedent.

In D doctors attribute change the meaning . It the increase in number of cases that can be attribute to poor eating and exercise habits.

A is correct.
