Need for is the correct idiom .

Hence ELIMINATE A, C and D

Now we are left with B and E

B is wrong because the subject is a need . which is singular .

In B they are making pine and flax as the subject and hence using the verb are because its separated by 'and'

Hence E .
required for ... to be ....

i DID get E for this one... is there an antecedent for "That" though? I need to start recognizing these...

?

I think they are only testing idioms in this one .
