In a question paper, there are 30 questions. If a person answers a question correctly, he is awarded 5 marks and if he gives wrong answer, he gets -2 marks. There is no negative marking for not attempting any question.Priya secured 60% of the maximum marks in the paper. If a denotes the number of correct attempts and b denotes number of incorrect attempts, the total number of pairs of attempts (a, b) by Priya can at most be

a) 2
b) 4
c) 6
d) 8
e) 5

5a - 2b = 60% of 150 = 90.
b = a/2 + 2a - 45.

Also b ≥ 0

=> 5a/2 - 45 ≥ 0

=> a ≥ 18

Since (a, b) are integers and a + b ≤ 30, we get the only possible pairs as (18, 0) and (20, 5).

Just because something is hard doesn't mean you shouldn't try,it means you should just try harder.
