How to Approach Studying?

by KingsDude » Fri Feb 05, 2010 1:21 pm
Hi guys,

Need some help here.. I've been studying on/off for the past few months just doing problem after problem, etc. I graduated in June with a degree in Biomedical Engineering so the math fundamentals and timing are on point, but I'm not getting a good score (520 - TERRIBLE).

So I enrolled in the Manhattan GMAT program and am going to take this class very seriously. I will do ALL of the prep work for every class (even though they say that nobody does it - I will). However, I need to find a more efficient way of studying.

I took the practice GMAT, went through all of the questions, realized why I got it wrong, and moved on. Argh.. its just so frustrating.

The same thing happened to me when I first started studying. I would recommend that you constantly go back and do old problems. What I did was I would do two problems a day from each chapter of each math book I used on math review days. This ensures that you won't forget any information that you learned. Its like an active flash card so to speak. There is another guy on here that is currently taking a Manhattan Course and he loves it. From my research though, you may want to consider Veritas if you want improvement with verbal. The consensus is that Manhattan is the best in quant, but not that good with verbal. Veritas has a great rep with verbal. With your background as an engineer, i'm sure you just need to learn the GMAT and you won't have a problem with math at all. Good luck.
