Just Got Beaten by the GMAT

Got a 630! 44Q; 33V

Very devastated.

Thing is I've been scoring around 650 on my practice tests, so far i havent improved over the last 4 manhattan gmat tests. I think i'm stuck on my strategies and havent really learned anything new. I just cant seem to get past 45 on math, and 34 on verbal. Verbal is especialloy tricky for me; havent found any strategies that work for me yet. any tips?

Any ideas you guys can over on how to get bast this early 600s bucket. Im aiming for a 750 and I have two motnhs.

I know its possible.

Something that has helped my verbal score a ton is practicing the sentence correction (oh and don't correct this post...it's too help not be picked apart, like the GMAT). I've heard that SC is about 40% of the verbal.

What I do is go through the OG. Not only do I pick out the right answer, but I also say why each answer choice is wrong. If I don't spot a reason why a choice is wrong, I study that rule. I have also created a bunch of flash cards through which to look while driving.... I mean when I have free time.

This has given me much more confidence when choosing answers... each AC normally has multiple errors.

Could you post your break-ups of MGMAT scores, especially how you performed in the verbal part , how many you got right/wrong in SC, CR and RCs. This will throw more light on where do you stand in those 3 sections.

Really attempt to increase your vocab. Begin keeping a journal of all the words you encounter that you don't know. Find a good grammar book (not GMAT specific) and just hone in on the basics of grammar. What I'm learning now is that the prep company materials are good in giving you a prototype, but the GMAT specializes in throwing questions that will be awkward and if you only focus on the prototype, you will struggle to answer the GMAT's curveballs.

You should try reading more, your quant score seems fine, but your V score could use some help.

WSJ (Online), The Economist, Financial Times all provide great literature, plus it's interesting to read aswell (you'll learn a lot).

What I do is go through the OG. Not only do I pick out the right answer, but I also say why each answer choice is wrong. THAT is the key... once you can do that... you're golden... remember Grammar is all about rules... rules can be memorized...
