GMAT 680 First try

Hey,

Wrote my first GMAT yesterday and scored 680 (41Q , 41V). Considering english is not my native language I'm pretty stoked about my verbal score. I know I can do better on Q, scored 49 on one of the two practice test I did and thereby a total of 710. Not sure if I should take the test again. I think I'll apply to a master at London School Of Economics here in Europe and see how it turns out.

We got a slightly different scale for our grades here in Sweden I know they require at least 75% VG (pass by distinction) and I'm calculating on finishing my bachelor with 95%. I hope its enough.

Do you guys have any suggestions regarding quant prep? I've done the Official Guides + Kaplan.

I know the feeling of a 680. You sit there looking at the screen in disbelief because you know there were 3 questions that you could have gotten right to get that 700. That was my story as well yesterday

I would def recommend using mgmat for math. I went through all of the guides except for the geometry guide and they are great. The best math books I've seen.

I'll might get them then! I have troubles with number properties and inequalities which I really really hate. Ratios and geometry are alright.

I would recommend going through the MGMAT Number Properties book before taking it again. I wouldn't have done ok in math without it.

How much did you score on quant? I'll most likely order it. I can't write the test again until may here in Sweden (fully booked) so I have plenty of time. Might do it this summer if I don't get in. Seems stupid to pay up 250 dollars if I don't have too

If you have until may I would suggest getting all of the MGMAT quant books... can't hurt to go through them all since you have the time. Even if you get 1 extra question correct... it would be worth it

47 on quant. I would definitely suggests, getting the MGMAT quant guides. The advanced sections are really thorough and necessary for your prep.

Awesome I'll order them tonight. I know I can improve my quant plenty if I'll be able to do that without loosing my strength in the verbal section 700 should not be impossible.

Bergstrom, 41V is a tremendous score for someone who the first language is not English, but this is not your case. I have been to Sweden and it seems that Swedish people known English since they born ! .

Seriously, I believe you are in the right track for a very high score. Verbal is the most difficult part of the GMAT and with already a 41V it seems that you could improve it even more. Try to boost your verbal a little more, but on the quant I would suggest you to get the MGMAT Quant Book, OG12, OG Quant and do at least 10 practice tests, leaving GMATPREP to the final weeks.
