Question about sending scores to schools

by Asterion » Mon Jan 25, 2010 12:19 pm
Hello

I'd like to hear some explanation about the whole "send your score to 5 schools" hullabaloo.

I'm sitting GMAT first and foremost because I plan to apply to certain management consultancies which value that in the CV. I'm not really sure about an MBA at the moment although I CAN think of 5 schools I'd like to do an MBA at some time in next 5 years. I'll put their names in.

Now my question is:

1 - How can those companies I'm interested in have a confirmation of my GMAT score?
2 - What if I think of a 6th school for an MBA in a year time. I've heard something like the request of extra scores costs money. That seems ridiculous. Can't I just fax my results to the school?

thanks for the help

You can't just fax your scores because people can use photoshop to edit scores. You have to pay like 30 dollars to send your scores to a new institution. Not sure how an employer would validate your gmat score.

I'm trying to think of this as if I were in b-school and were to apply to certain consultancies. They still wouldn't technically know what your GMAT score was... the schools can't report it and if it's on your resume - it can't be validated. Not saying that you could/should lie, but there's no formal way for them to check your scores.

The additional cost to send your scores to a school is exactly $28/school. It definitely sucks after shelling out $250 for the exam. Honestly though, I wouldn't worry too much about the $28/school if you're looking to go to b-school a few years out.
