Couldn't figure this one out. A brief explanation would be much appreciated. Thanks!

85) What fraction of graduating students at college X are male?

a. 33% of males and 20% of females transferred from another college
b. 25% of all students transferred

IMO:C

Need to find m/(m+f)

a>.33M+.2F ------------is the info we get here.Not sufficient to get the ratio

b>.25(M+F) -------------again not sufficient

.33M +.2F =.25(M+F)

Sufficient.

There has to be information missing from these statements because the question stem asks about fraction of graduating students, but the statements, as written, do not discuss graduating students at all.

Please post questions in full.

Assuming those percentages are supposed to be percentages of graduating students, then from each statement we can set up an equation with the terms "m" and "f". In combination, we would be able to solve for the ratio m:f, and therefore the ratio of m:total, and so the answer would be choice C.

Testluv-thanks for the explanation. that's actually why I got the question wrong. I was trying to create separate variables for men, female, men transfers, female transfers.
