Profile Evaluation Request

Age: 32
Gender: Male
Nationality: United States

Education: The Ohio State University, BA - English, 2.5 Undergraduate GPA... the result of a lot of major-hopping.
GMAT Score: 730 (50Q, 39V, 6.0 Writing)
Work Experience: 8 Years in Performance Development Roles (ranging from instructional design to project and team management positions). Most recently, 3 years as Project Manager in charge of large-scale curriculum and change management initiatives for a large regional bank. Prior to that, 2 years leading a team of instructional designers for a large national bank. In each position I have worked, I have received nothing but the highest review marks. I also interned for 4 summers during college for Ernst & Young LLP's Learning and Development organization.
Extracurricular: Volunteering for United Way through employer, eLearning Guild member, eLearning Guild Conference Presenter, Learning Consortium Member, and various personal pursuits (sports, reading, etc.).

Applying:
OSU Fisher School of Business - Full-Time (applying by March for Autumn 2010 start)
OSU Fisher School of Business - Part-Time, Working Professional (applying by February for Spring 2010 start)

A few questions:
What are my chances for acceptance?
Should I ask for references from different companies? Or, are admission boards more concerned with people you have most recently worked with or are currently working with?
Should I focus on my pursuits in Performance Development (as something unique I would bring to the program - even if I want to focus on Strategy and Consulting for my MBA)?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Hi there,

Firstly, please make sure that you call the school admissions director and check whether you can apply to Full-time and Part time program of the same school at the same time. MOST schools have policies around this and you may want to be aware of what are you getting into.

"chances for acceptance" - This is a hypothetical question. You have a good profile. Good GMAT score - you have a good chance. Focus on writing good solid essays and make sure your application is tight.

"references from different companies" - Depends. Adcoms understand if you cannot provide recommendations from the current employer as in some cases this can create issues in the work environment (if the team and superiors do not support an MBA for you)...so you may provide work references for various employers. However, it is highly recommended and preferred if at least one recommendation comes from your current employer.

Performance Development vs. Strategy and Consulting for my MBA - This is your decision to make. I cannot make this decision for you. Sorry.
