Worries about transcripts

by mossovet814 » Mon Dec 14, 2009 11:53 am
Hi,

I have a transcript from my university. This transcript is signed and it has all the courses I have already completed. But... I still study and till my graduation in may 2010 I will complete a number of courses. So, by the time I present my official transcript to the University it will have a number of extra courses I will complete during this half a year. So, the question are:

1) I started worrying about such provision as "any discrepancy between unofficial and official transcript may lead to the rejection". What is discrepancy? Will my extra number of courses in the official transcript be a discrepancy? Or discrepancy means just different grades in the transcripts?

and

2) Will the marks for my courses that I complete in the last half of the year in University affect the finel decision? (just in case something happens - my present GPA is between 3.7 and 3.9 and I worry what if for the last half of the year it will go down for some reason)

Hi there...

For your first question:

No. The adcoms understand that if you are still enrolled in classes, then this is a valid situation. Just make sure that you have your future graduation date clearly stated on your resume. Additionally, this is where you can bring this to adcoms attention in your 'optional' part - mostly because most people apply with work experience and have graduated a while back. If you are a special case, you are better off mentioning this part rather than ignoring it.

Answer to your second question:
For most schools, you get an interview call almost 4-6 weeks after submitting your application. If you are called for an interview, it can take about another 4-6 weeks to give you a decision. Either way, the decision is based on the information provided. Ideally, it does not affect the decision (As long as you do not grades like "D" "E" OR "F" on your transcripts in the graduating semesters - you should be fine.
