Hi I am currently working with enginering company (Oil and Gas) and have about 3+ years of experience. I have Masters in chemical engineering with GPA of 3.3. I got about 2.9 GPA in undergred. I havent taken GMAT yet. I have good professional back ground with good recommendation. Also I have some leadership experience and recognition. Assuming I get 700+ in GMAT, what are my chances to get in to top 5 B-school.

thanks in advance.

Dear Rahul,

It is really hard to comment on your chances without knowing your GMAT score and why you want to go to business school. Your GPA is below average for a top 5, but a GMAT above 700 and your master's program do help to mitigate that to some degree. Leadership experience and progression in your career are also important as well as a solid rationale for why you want to get an MBA in relation to your engineering experience and future career goals. You appear to have the beginning of a foundation for a competitive application--if you do well on the GMAT and believe you can put together a strong set of essays and recommendations, then it is possible you will be competitive for a top 10 program.

Good luck,
Lisa
