GMAT - need help

Hi,
I am giving my GMAT test in Dec. I haven't even started practicing yet & am not at all good at math. I have Princeton & OG 12th edition books with me, but i dont know where to start. can anyone please, suggest me a good plan on how to get started. Does anyone have Manhattan books? Can you please send if anyone has them? I really need all the help i can get.

Hi there,

Although I myself haven't done that well on GMAT (530 in first attempt and 640 in the 2nd), I would still like to help you by sharing my mistakes and learnings

- First of all, [b]don't be afraid to take practice tests[/b]. I procratinated till no end and finally I realised that the more preactice tests you take, the better your chances are! It helps you understand your pace. During my first attempt, I had rushed through the entire verbal section and had almost 30 mins remaining! No wonder I scored only 25 in Verbal. So keep taking practice tests on and off. Especially the GMAT Prep ones. In fact you might be surprised to see a question on the exam which you had encountered earlier during your practice tests. It happened with me during me 2nd attempt and I just had to choose an answer, no need for calcualtions, coz it was EXACTLY the same question that I had seen earlier!!!

- Build on your [b]maths basics[/b]. i'm still stuggling with this one, but I will be buying some high scool books to practice different kinds of questions. The number of questions that we can practice per topic is quite limited with any programme, so I have decided to spend more time on the basics (my next GMAT is scheduled on 22nd dec)

- Spend time with [b]MANHATTAN SENTENCE CORRECTION GUIDE[/b]. This one book can totally take you to another level in Verbal score. It is because of this book, that I could go from 25 to 37 in verbal in my second attempt.

- Go through the flascards on this site and the ones on Manhattan site, they're both good.

- Keep an error log as suggested by others on this forum, I'm gonna try that as well

- Be very calm during ur test. That really helps!!!
