750 (50 M 41 V)

Took the GMAT today and scored 750 (50 M 41 V).

I am happy with the score, though disappointed with my Math score.

These were my test scores

GMAT prep 1 - 570 (couldn't finish both sections)
GMAT prep 2 on the same day- 700 (couldn't finish both sections)
Princeton 1 - 720
Princeton 2 - 730
Manhattan 1 - 680 (practicing Manhattan is a good idea- Even if you get really tough questions in actual GMAT you won't freak out)
Manhattan 2 - 690
Manhattan 3 - 710
Manhattan 4 - 750 (Maths was really easy)
GMAT prep 1 - 770 (51 M, 44 V)

OG 12, a good English grammar book, Manhattan sentence correction and 9th standard math textbook were the only books I studied.

Real exam - Math - First question was really tough so i guessed and moved on. Rest of the questions were really easy and i thought i had got all right. But I got 50 - I guess i made a couple of silly mistakes. Finished Maths 5 minutes before
time. Judging from GMAT prep, I though maths would be really tough, but it was really easy. Took time to answer first fifteen verbal questions, but finished the section comfortably.

Wren and Martin high school english grammar.

I think one can not learn GMAT grammar from books in a few days - especially non-native speakers like me. Recognizing mistakes comes from reading a lot.

Congrats venubab! There is no reason why you should get disappointed with your math score. 50 is an outstanding score. What else one needs!

Hi Venubab,

Congratulations on your fantastic score!! Time and again i get to see from this forum that OG12, Sentence Correction Guide from Manhattan and high school level basic Maths text is more than sufficient to crack GMAt and enter 700+ arena.

I would like to know what was the maths text you used - By any chance, is it CBSE text book by R.D Sharma??
And how useful was it to attack GMAT kind of questions - especially the Approach needed to tackle Quant questions.

Now that the GMAT has been conquered, you can probably concentrate on the Apps part. Wishing you all the very best.

I am an engineer (that is the reason I wanted to get 51), so I thought maths would not be a problem for me. But after taking GMAT prep, I realized actual GMAT math wouldn't be easy (actual GMAT quant was easy, though). You need to practice a lot to get familiarity with inequalities. Manhattan CAT questions are similar to actual GMAT questions. 198 questions posted on this site will also familiarize you with the actual GMAT questions.

Any 9th standard book is fine. If you are from India I recommend you go through Time material (this contains a lot of extraneous matter, though), OG 12, Manhattan CAT quant and 198 prep questions.

For verbal - You can not learn RC, and probably critical reasoning, in a few days. These skills are developed over a long period of time-although you can practice to improve speed.

I have a problem with CR section because I just did Kaplan CAT ,and My Verbal scores is approximately 20!!!(18,20,22)
I got RC about 30% ,SC around 60% and CR about 15-30% correct.
How I can up my CR scores.
Do you have any reccommend book(or only CR bible).
