Diversity in Business Schools?

Amy please can you help.

I am a 28yr Entrepreneur with strong academics (Oxford Graduate), now considering an MBA (US) to add new skills and experience and to network.

Having reviewed the posts on this site and visited local roadshows of MBA schools (London), I am very concerned by the potential demographic of future classes.

My worst nightmare is that I arrive on day one and find that my class is almost entirely comprised of Indian IT consultants and Investment Bankers. I do not feel associating with this demographic will add to my business understanding and deliver what I want from the course.

Are the top US business schools dominated by Indian IT consultants and Bankers? If so, could you please recommend some more niche Business schools with a more diverse intake.

Am I the only one thinking that you are over-reacting a little too much? Indian applicants might be up in number(and that's probably the reason you've got this impression/nightmare) but most schools ensure a fair representation of all types of backgrounds.

If you've checked out the b-school sites,you'll see that the stats are a lot more re-assuring and should effectively rid you of your nightmares

as finding many indian/It professionals at your b-school is a nightmare for you, being and indian/it professional and having to 'somehow' stand out is a nightmare for me.

relax man.. if you go to college websites you'll find out its not so.. i wouldnt like to sit in a class with british entrepreneurs either.. i think that would just be too boring for me

I'm sure you are joking, so I will just wish you luck in your MBA application process, and assume you know that schools strive very hard for diversity.
