Profile Evaluation, Please

by norse2585 » Tue Nov 10, 2009 9:56 am
Hi,

I am considering applying to MBA programs for the Fall of 2010, and I'm trying to determine what sorts of programs I may be best qualified for. I've listed a few schools that I'm interested in below, and I'm curious to see how strong an applicant I may be for those programs.

Here are a few details about my profile:

-Undergrad: 3.72 GPA double-major in History and Spanish; strong national liberal arts college. I was an officer in the honor societies in both of my major fields. I did take a few business classes (2 semesters of Accounting, 1 semester of MIS).

-GMAT: 640 (45 Quant/34 Verbal/5 AWA)

-Work Experience: By the time I enroll in graduate school, I'll have had 3 years of experience as an IT Specialist for a major U.S. law firm; many projects that I have worked on have been involved, challenging, and have taken me across the U.S.

-MBA Concentration: Management Information Systems/Information Management

-MBA Programs of Interest:

Reach Schools: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign ("Technology" program), Southern Methodist University

Other Programs of Interest: University of Pittsburgh, George Washington University, University of Missouri, University of Arizona, Virginia Tech, William & Mary

Thanks very much!

Actually, your profile looks strong for the schools on your list. You can further strengthen your application by clearly articulating why each program fits your future professional goals and also making sure that each of your recommenders understands your achievements and future plans. Also, be sure to communicate any interests/skills you have that are outside of your professional life to show that you are a well-rounded individual.
