GMAT scores below the average of a school?

Hi Stacy

I wrote the GMAT and scored below 600. If you look at the 80% mean averages of a school. Do you think it is worthwile applying to a school provided that I fall within that 80% mean?

Another thing, some people say that if you score below 60 or 70 points of a school's average, it is still worth a shot?

Any comments and advice would be appreciated

Dear Avesh,

If your GMAT score falls within the mid-80% range for a school, then you are "in range" on that measure. That means you do have a chance for admission assuming the rest of your application is strong. If you are below that range, then your chances are quite low, but not impossible.

I have never heard of this 60-70 point guideline, so I can't comment there.
