A list of measurements in increasing order of 4,5,6,8,10 and x. If the median of these measurements is 6/7 times their arithmetic mean, what is the value of x?

a. 16
b. 15
c. 14
d. 13
e. 12

The median of the 6 measurements is (6+8)/2 = 7

If the median of these measurements is 6/7 times their arithmetic mean, the mean is then 49/6.

Therefore we need to find the number that when added to the 5 numbers equals 49. That number is 16.

Hence answer is A

Oh I got it. It was such an easy problem but I just forgot that the numbers were already listed in increasing order so the median has to be equal to (6+8) /2 = 7.
