When to omit verb while doing comparison

In my opinion, a is the correct answer. The dropped verb should be "ran" not "did"

what i have learned is we can omit verb when as or than is used to make comparison......
It does not matter how many times you get knocked down , but how many times you get up

The reason A is a better choice is that you are allowed to assume the verb "ran" in the first sentence, even thought it is not there.

In sentence B, if you wanted to use "did," you would need the phrase "did run," which is correct, and not "did ran," which is incorrect.
