Hello,

As a business owner who can't obviously use a supervisor for a recommender, you still have some good options. You might use a key customer in a business relationship, someone from a company that you partner with, a mentor from another business, a former supervisor if you worked earlier at a company, and/or (if you do significant volunteering) someone from a volunteer organization where you have a substantial role. The adcoms will understand your situation - but it's still helpful to add a few sentences in the optional essay explaining why you can't use a supervisor and also why you are choosing those particular people.

Best regards,
