After one week of earnest prepartion for the GMAT, I took two 2008 GMAT CAT Practice Tests this past weekend, scoring 530 and 550. Judging from the results, it was evident I needed to focus on Data Sufficiency and Reading Comprehension -- my two glaring weak areas. Accordingly, I focused on these two sections of the test by subsequently working through some of the practice problems in the OG GMAT text.

Last night, I took one of the 2007 GMAT CAT Practice Tests, scoring yet another 550. Here's the breakdown of my performance:

Q(37, 14 incorrect)
Problem Solving - 7 incorrect
Data Sufficiency - 7 incorrect

V(41, 15 incorrect)
Reading Comprehension - 9 incorrect
Critical Reasoning - 4 incorrect
Sentence Correction - 2 incorrect

At this point, I'm debating whether I'd be better served to continue taking practice tests to hone my time-management skills and overcome the shock-factor of taking a computer-based test -- or address the fundamentals of Problem Solving, Data Sufficiency, and Reading Comprehension by working through more of the practice problems in the OG text.

My advice would be do practice tests. With more practice tests, not only do you simulate the test environment, but you also obviously work the problems. By all means if there is a particular flavor of math you are not getting, you can do some extra problems outside the practice test, but overall I am a big fan on computer-based practice tests for test preparation.

you may want to read up online for tips on reading comprehension, since those problems seem to be tripping you up. Good luck!
