Advice needed!

by mishti86 » Fri Oct 02, 2009 8:56 am
Hi guys,

I am giving Gmat in 4 days and as the clock ticks away, i am getting extremely tense!

I needed some advice

I have reffered absolutely all books mentioned in the forum but i find the level of math very different in different books. Is there a book that will give me an accurate judgement of math problems on the real exam?

Also my verbal is weak, especially SC and RC, some last minute notes i can refer?

Any advice would do :) hooked to the forum!

Hey mishti, 4 days is too little time to start afresh. The results of any practice tests that you have taken might help in evaluating where you stand. Anyway, seeing that you are in a spot of bother, I suggest you try the following:

Day 1/4
Take a GMAT Prep Practice Test. Once done, evaluate your overall performance and analyse EVERY question.
Go through all the SC questions in the OG 11/12. Understand why the wrong answers are wrong.

Day 2/4
Go through Math Section in OG 11/12. Solve all the problems. Analyse each and every problem.

Day 3/4:
Ideally, this should've been your rest day. But, we dont have that luxury, do we? Go through some posts on how to tackle RCs. Dont clutter your head with a variety of strategies. Find one that you like and stick to it. Do all the RC & CR problems in the OG. Analyse each and every one.
Read up on how to tackle the AWA portion.. keywords et al. Try an issue and an argument on your computer's notepad

Day 4/4 (D-Day):
Get ready atleast 3 hours before the test. Go through 3 DS, 3 PS, 3 SC, 3 CR and 1 RC that you have already solved during the last couple of days.

Hope for the best... dont get bogged down on any question.. if you cant solve after 2 mins, move on.

All the Best!

Been through everything already..tho my scores are a bit disappointing...they range from 650 - 700
also i found the math on the gmat prep s/w tests tough compared to the ones in the book! are the real ones tougher than dos?
