profile Evaluation please

by sury1985 » Mon Sep 28, 2009 2:17 am
Hi Stacey\Lisa,

Thank you so much for your time. I would really appreciate if you can evaluate my profile.

I took my Gmat recently and got a very dismal score
570(Q 44 V 25).

I am thinking on writing Gmat again, but I have kept this week, to see my chances of getting some second or third tier B school with this score.

I have a work experience of 3 years in IT working in a MNC and it is a fortune 500 company. My work profile is pretty good but again there will be lots of competition from other Indian IT male people. My extra curriculars are really good.

Would you be able to tell me if I will get some second or third tier B school admit with this profile and will it be worth doing an MBA from these schools. I do think I can increase my Gmat score easily by another 70 points as I constantly scored above the 650 mark in all my practice tests.

Thanks A lot

Dear sury1985,

Your GMAT score does put you at a disadvantage relative to other applicants with similar education and experience. I think it will be tough to gain admission to business schools with GMAT averages over a 550 or that are consistently ranked in the global top 50. I encourage you to retake the GMAT as a score in the mid-600's will give you more options.

Good luck,
Lisa
