Thanks a lot in advance guys for the review:
Education/Background:
Came from Pakistan for education in the US for undergrad, went to school at a small state school in north west Oklahoma where I became president of the student body after my first year. Transferred to Rutgers Business School after 2 years where I was president of my class along with other organizations. Worked over 40 hours a week to pay for school
GPA: 3.3-3.4
GMAT: Target 700-720
Work Experience:
(1 year so far) Work in the pricing strategy group on the legacy Merrill Lynch side in the combined Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Got a chance to lead the integration of one group. Got elected as a site leader for the west asian middle eastern north african professional network where I organize cultural events.
Have done investment banking internship at bear stearns and started a small consulting company for valuation work for a few months with a friend in school where I presented some valuation work we did to a board of directors of a company
EC:
Sit on a board of a charity focusing on disabled children in the developing world where I organized 2 events. Also starting up a fellowship program wth friends for low income college students in NY
Reach Schools:
Columbia, Harvard, Kellogg
Core List:
Yale, Michigan, UVA, Dartmouth (Duke or Cornell if I can finish applications in time)
Safety:
U of North Carolina
Goal:
Start a growth private equity or ate stage VC firm focused on developing green energy and exporting the technology to the developing world
Few Questions:
Is my GPA too low for Harvard, Kellogg and Columbia?
When would be a good time to apply to b-school, rumor has it schools are pushing younger students
Anything I should be focusing on right now that could be seen as potential weakness in my application?
Thanks again
Saad
