Dejected 660 (48M, 34V) =/

Hi all, this is my first post but i've been following beatthegmat for awhile. Took the GMAT today in California at a pearson center, this is my second attempt. My first attempt was a 630 (45M, 31V).

In terms of preparation, I've taken a full MGMAT course 2 years ago, and i've also had a private tutor for the past 1.5 months, it's unfortunate with this much paid help I haven't been able to improve my score to my target range =/

My gmatprep scores over the past couple of weeks have been in the high 600s to mid 700s, i believe the order was 690, 680, 730, 720, 770 which sort of gave me the expectation I would score in the high 600s or low 700s. My verbal subscores were 41, 35, 44, 40, 47

Math: started out good, i feel pretty comfortable now with math, don't have a huge number of weaknesses, other than not being able to do the super hard questions, but pretty solid on most 600-700 level questions.

Verbal: felt rushed and a didn't know if i was getting the right answer or not on a lot of scs, for crs thought i was doing pretty well (usually don't miss too many crs). rc is a weakness, got the first passage down, but once i got into the long science / history passage felt completely lost. MOST UNFORTUNATE THING is i really really had to go to the bathroom in the middle of verbal and lost 5 minutes, felt like i had to rush the last 15 questions or so and lsot some accuracy there =/

I'm planning on retaking the test again in a month, any recommendations for good verbal strategies going forward?

thanks everybody.

Well...to be frank, you don't need any study material. You just need to practice. Remember the difference between a successful and unsuccessful person is that, the successful person knows the exact answer while an unsuccessful one know almost the exact answer but not the exact one.

If you could increase your accuracy + get comfortable with RC's(especially the ones you really don't like!) I am sure you can easily cross 700 barrier.

Something very important about RC : Most of the time you never know whether you are marking the correct answers or not. But that's not a problem.
The problem is when you don't understand RC, that decreases your confidence level and affects your performance in other Sections. I think same happened with you too.

Best Of Luck
