Dear tj123,

If it is a school you plan to apply to and/or highly interested in attending, then it is worth waiting in line to talk to the admissions representative. Your main goal is to introduce yourself, perhaps give him/her a resume or business card, and ask a question that demonstrates you have done some research on the school. If the question can be answered by looking at the website, then this is not a good question. You want to look over the website ahead of time and have 1-3 questions about the program based on what you have read. Perhaps there is a new research center? or new elective track? or a new Dean? If the representative is an alumnus of the program, then you can always ask about his experience. Showing you have done some research ahead of time will demonstrate you have more than a fleeting interest and leave a positive impression.

Good luck,
Lisa
