MS Finance profile evaluation

by vs2211 » Sat Sep 12, 2009 8:56 am
Hi,

I would like to know my chances of getting into a top MS Finance program in US.
I am currently working in US based Sales and Marketing consultancy in India as a data analyst for the last 1 year on incentive compensation for our clients. I have experience on our internal data handling tools and well as SAS. I have had experience on working with the client onsite as well.
I have done my mechanical engineering from Delhi College of Engineering, with an overall 67% (converts to 3.3 CGPA i think). I have had a lot of exposure ti extra circular activities in the college.
I am still preparing for the GMAT, but I have a GRE score of 1490(800 Quant and 690 Verbal) and 5.5/6 AWA and am pretty confident of crossing 700 in GMAT. My TOEFL score is 116.
I am willing to wait out and improve my profile further but I want to know where exactly do I stand now.
Thanks in advance.
vs

Dear VS,

Based on what you posted, I think you have a competitive profile for MS Finance programs in the US. You have solid numbers based on your academic record and GRE and appear to have good work experience. Whether or not to wait simply depends on whether you feel you will gain work experience to strengthen your application--just another year in quantity will not add value; it needs to be a year of adding breadth/depth to your experience.

Good luck,
Lisa

Thanks Stacy for your thoughts.
I am sure that I can add more in terms of depth but I am not sure if there is much scope for width somehow. In what way is changing jobs looked upon as?
At this point of time, I am not sure if I want to go for higher education or move to another job, although I pretty satisfied with my current one.
What do u advice?
Thanks,
VS
