Profile Evaluation Please

by Wonka555 » Fri Sep 11, 2009 11:07 am
Hello There,

B.S. in Media and Communications from NYU
3.7 GPA
740 GMATS Scores

Extra Curriculars:
Played Rugby throughout college and wrestled for one year.

Work Exp:
I currently run my own successful clothing line.
During school I had internships with large media conglomerates and with bulge bracket investment banks.

There are some massive problems though. One of them is that I was caught cheating twice during undergrad. The other is that I have had to retake 3 classes (mainly because of the cheating).
Am I going to be able to get into a top 15 school with my horrible school record?

Thank you.

Dear Wonka,

Perhaps. Your GMAT and GPA are high, but the fact you have documentation indicating a history of cheating will taint those numbers in the eyes of the admissions committees. I think it will be important for you to explicitly address this in an optional essay using the bulk of the essay to make a case that those days are behind you and giving detail on what you learned from those mistakes.

Good luck,
Lisa
