Admission Query

by kbharadwaj.1987 » Thu Aug 27, 2009 6:56 pm
Sir, I gave my GMAT last month. I got a 720(q-49,v-38) I am a fresh graduate. I completed my Engineering this July 2009 with a 2.7 GPA. Is it likely that I would get admitted into below mentioned schools? Now this is something about my profile: I took part in various extra curricular activities such as on campus entrepreneurial activities, and also I assisted my college placement manager in fetching companies to the college in my fourth year. I'm an amateur DJ, vocalist. I was employed while in Undergrad, I was working as a teacher, and also I had contributed to the society by helping the orphanage kids. I have also done two six-month internships at Voltas Limited and Accenture India Limited.

The schools I'm interested in applying to are:

University of California at Irvine: Merage
Fox School of Business: Temple University
Thunderbird School of Management
Pittsburg University
Ohio State University

Dear kbharadawj.1987,

It is possible you will get into some, or all, of your target schools. Your GMAT and GPA indicate you have the academic ability to do the work, so the decisions will come down to how strong your essays, recommendations and interviews are in presenting you as a compelling applicant. You will need to convey why you want to go to business school now versus gaining 3-4 years of experience first. Likewise, you will need to convey a solid rationale for business school in relation to your career goals.

Good luck,
Lisa

I stand by my earlier post that you have selected appropriate programs for your profile. The ultimate decisions will be based on the quality of your essays and recommendations, in addition to your GMAT and GPA. The main weakness is the lack of professional work experience, so you will need to make a strong case for why now versus working for a few years.

Good luck,
Lisa
