Dear saegonyoo,

If you take a course as part of alternative transcript, it is best to take for a grade so you have something to show the admissions committees. If you are simply taking the class to brush up on skills/terminology/concepts, then it is up to you on whethe ryou want to take it for a grade. If you are looking to mitigate poor performance in quant courses in college, I would suggest taking a college algebra or calculus class before a statistics class. As for taking an English course, that is an option if you feel there will be a concern on your English ability. So, if your verbal score on the GMAT is low and you did not do well in these types of classes during college, then it could be a way to mitigate the admissions committee's concern. Your essays and interview will also help to show your English/verbal ability.

Good luck,
Lisa
