Pls somebody explain I chose ARE over IS b'coz three sublects are joined with an "and"..doesnt this requre a plural verb?

actually the subject here is "Value" and therefore we need "is". Even i thought it was B, but after i reread the answer, i think E should be the correct choice

(B) are included in earnings, as - value is singular so we should use "is" here instead of "are"
(C) is included in earnings, than they pay - Incorrect. Noun-verb matching is done properly. However, the use of "than" is incorrect here. We are using "twice as much to..." so "as" should be making the second phrase.
(D) is included in earnings, as is paid - Parallelism issue here.
(E) is included in earnings, as they pay - Correct.

Hi,

The problem with D is parallelism. In first part of parallelism, it is active voice "they pay" and in option d, it is passive, "is paid".
