As vs Like

I know there are rules for Such As vs Like but what about As vs. Like. I've seen them use interchangeably in GMAT. Ex:

Proponents of artificial intelligence say they will be able to make computers that can understand English and other human languages, recognize objects, and reason as expert does- computers that will be used to diagnose equipment breakdowns, deciding whether to authorize a loan, or other purposes such as these.

Answers has both "as expert does" and "like an expert." Both are correct that is not even where the errors are.

Hi,

As is used to compare "phrases" and like is used to compare "nouns".
So I think like an expert should be correct here...
Can you please share the Answer choices for better analysis....

they are both correct. the error lies in the use of resumptive modifiers. so the "like and expert" and "as an expert does" are just red herring.
