Our understanding was that she would continue to cover the costs of school enrollment and room and board for the children, which she verbally agreed to pay with the rest of the family.

A which she verbally agreed to pay with the rest of the family.
B which she agreed verbally with the rest of the family to pay.
B of which she agreed verbally with the rest of the family to pay.
C both of which she verbally agreed to pay with the rest of the family.
D both of which she agreed to pay with the rest of the family verbally.

B is correct and the best here

which refers to cost....remove the of construction and which refers to primary noun

'which' always refers to the noun immediately before comma. Hence, we can straight rule out A and B because in these options 'which' is referring to 'children', WHICH is the noun immediately before comma.

IMO C

D is incorrect because 'verbally' modifies the verb 'to pay' which doesnt make sense

C...

relative pronouns have to clearly modify their antecedents. "both of which" clearly modifies "school enrollment and room and board." "verbally" modifies "agreed"

OA is B, but I didn't buy it. I see someone chose B as an OA. Please provide further details why D was not right.
