Alternative Transcript

by a_brown » Sat Aug 22, 2009 1:58 am
Hi Eliot,
I would like to do an accredited online course in finance to build an alternative transcript. Do you have any ideas where I could find such a course? I would like to do the course at a good university as I am applying to top 5 B-Schools.
Thanks
Best Wishes,
Andy

Hi Eliot,
One more thing to add - when I was at university (3.5 years ago), I did a course in finance and got a mediocre grade. For my alternative transcript, can I also choose a course in introductory finance considering I forgot all what I've learnt from my finance course 3.5 years ago and I didnt learn it that well anyway? The intermediate - advanced level courses will be too tough for me I think, but will a good grade at introductory finance be good enough?

My stats are:

Aiming for: Top 5 B-School

GMAT - taken 3 times. 640 (Q44, V34), 700 (Q47 (79%), V40(89%) and 720 (Q44 (69%), V45(98%)).
Which score should I submit? th 700 has a better quant score and is closer to the 80-80 percentile split, but the 720 is higher.

University: Engineering @ top 3 university (UK), upper second class degree grade overall, but lots(half) of courses in 30s to 50s, including finance (54%) and some quantative related courses. The British mark much lower than the Americans though(pass mark for most courses is 30%)

WE - Multinational oil company, international experience.

Please let me know
Thanks
Regards,
Andy
