Hi

By the time of Fall 2010 i will have 4 years of Work Ex in IT field . During these years i have worked with teams developing the product from scratch and recently with the product marketing team .

I have done engineering in IT , got placed in accenture and globallogic (startup at that time - mid size firm now) and joined GL because it provided greater opportunity to rise with in the firm because of its small size .

I took gmat twice
1st attempt 600 Sad
2nd attempt 720 M 50 V 37 Smile

I am looking forward to move to Consulting after MBA . Can you please suggest colleges where i have decent chance ?

Regards
Sandy

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for your post. I'd like to know a bit more about you before suggesting programs. Can you give me a few more specifics in particular around your work experience and growth/trajectory to date? Also, where did you attend undergrad and what was your GPA? What about extracurricular activities? This information will help me get a better picture of your profile and what programs might be a fit for you.

Thanks,

Stacey

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for the further clarification. It sounds like you had a fair amount of extracurricular activities in college, however, you negected to mention any activities since. Its important for your applications that you try to avoid referencing college activities in your essays and focus on things you have done since graduation. Writing essays about personal activities and interests outside of work will be essential for you in order to stand out from the large applicant pool of engineers from India.

You appear to have a soid career trajectory to date. Be sure your resume reflects your growth not only in title but in responsibilities. You should also try to highlight the impact you've had in your role.

Lastly, if you are interested in consulting, I suggest you consider schools with strong general management programs. I suggest taking a look at Duke, Darden and Tuck to start.

Please feel free to send your resume to [email protected] for a free assessment of your profile.

Best,

Stacey
