Hi all,

I just got back from the test center, and scored a 430 with 23 in verbal and 25 in quant. I looked at the score and couldn't believe it. I ran out of time in both quant and verbal, and had to guess the last 10 questions for verbal and probably last 5 for quant. To be honest, I really only need around a 600 to get into the school I want.

I have OG11, OG Quant, and Manhattan GMAT SC. There are so many factors that I feel affected. Timing, nervousness (the less time I had, the more nervous I became), etc. I know I can understand the critical reasoning and reading comp, but I just didn't have enough time to fully digest the material (I know I can be analytical, but I just need more time). SC is still a weakness, as I admit I didn't have enough time to study for SC. I also think data sufficiency was a weak point. Anyways, I am planning on a retake in Nov or Dec. Can someone provide me with some tips on how to go from 430 to 600. I mean at this point I would have even settled for a 550 score, as that would have gotten me into my backup schools. I am so frustrated, can someone provide me with some help?

What's up!

I scored pretty low last week, too. I was scoring 600s on my Kaplan tests, which should have equated to a high 600, but I messed up by freaking out and getting exhausted during the test. I'm going to schedule the test in October, shake it's hand, then slap it with my glove and challenge it to a duel to the death.

I can understand the frustration. You studied hard and put so much time into it, but the end result was not what you were hoping for. I don't know if me saying anything will help, but I know from my personality, I'm going to dust myself off, think about what I need to change in my study habits and keep on trucking. I think of the first try as an experiment to see where your weaknesses and strengths are and the second attempt is the real deal.

I read Ursula's debrief and even Eric's tips on how he studied and found the advice pretty good.

Ursula's blog (https://www.urch.com/forums/just-finishe ... #post41054)

Also, I took a look at the resources on this forum and found a pretty good chart on Idioms. They help out big time on the SC portion.

It seems everyone just keeps practicing data sufficiency until they get tired of it. When you keep practicing data sufficiency and learn that the GMAT just uses the same formulas, but plugs in different numbers, you'll be golden. It's kind of like permutations and combinations. If you don't know how to do it, it makes you a nervous wreck, but when you see that it's the same formula over and over again, you'll get it right.

I'd like know how your studies go and your eventual test.

Cheers,
George
