This one is driving me crazy

The question had two figures (sorry cant draw) an equilateral triangle with sides labeled T and a square with sides labeled S. What is the ratio of T:S?

The answer 2: 4 radical 3

(I'm positive about the 2....but not so sure about the 4 radical 3....it truly may not be this, but it is something very close....it might be the fourth root)

Sorry about the spotty answer....I took the test today at the library and did not write it down.

there is already answer some where on this forum

both areas are equal

area of equilateral triangle = 1/2xBase xHeight

Height = ROOT3/2 * T
Base = T/2

area of T = 1/2*T/2*ROOT3/2 * T

area of T = ROOT3/8 * T^2

area of S = S^2

It is given that both areas are equal

T^2 * ROOT3/8 = S^2

Taking square root both sides,

T * 4thROOT of 3/2ROOT2 = S
T/S=2ROOT2/4thROOT of #
