Help Requested : Urgent

I have taken the GMAT 4 times

1 560 ( q44, v 25 ) Aug 2007
2. Cancelled Score Sept 2008
3. 600 ( q48, v25 ) Nov 2008
4. 630 ( q48, v27 ) Jul 20 2009

My GMATPrep scores have always been between 730-750 with Verbal always in the 38-42 Range. I have always got my lowest score in the actual exam.

I am deeply frustrated and have made up my mind to take the GMAT again for the last time within 30 days. I plan to apply to the Top 10 US Schools this year. GMAT has delayed my plans for 3 years and cannot wait any further.

I have a good profile and a GPA of 3.9 from a Top 10 Indian Engineering Institute

Only thing killing me is the GMAT. I have been looking for the proverbial 700.

Will Multiple scores hurt my app?. I have read that schools take the Highest score

Someone please guide me.

ultimately, it is you who decides when to cut your losses.

I guess they can also look at your overall attempts that why you opted for more than 1 attempt that looks unsual compared to so many normal applicants.

I would say try to improve by good score this time, say from 630 to 690-720 bracket..that way you may have chance to create good impression that you always wanted this one and you improved all four times.
Otherwise, say your score comes around 650 that will be just 20 points more..not a big difference and GMAT is always about psychometric testing so they can put you lower on that scale.

There is no hard and clear rules, overall application matters a lot than one component. But give it good one to be close, on or above 700.

@Finalfrontier / anyone: Can you answer my query if somebody appears more than once for GMAT, will the higher score count or the last attempt ?

well all i can say is analyze your preparation by sitting with someone ....and
take a 6 months gap before giving this time again.
