Hello, I have a question regarding MBA programs-- I am undergraduate student at a top tier school. I will be graduating next semester with a GPA of around 3.4.

At the beginning of last summer, I wasn't able to find an internship so I enrolled in summer school. However, I found a great internship in the middle of the summer. I ended up dropping the summer courses and taking the internship. I had a great time learning about the industry through the internship, but am worried about the notation on the transcript.

On the transcript, it notes "Summer 2008: Withdrawn via petition". How would top MBA programs view this?

Thanks

Dear jcjc,

I think they would view it as you withdrew from your summer courses. Most committee members will also note that you worked in an internship that summer based on your resume. So, I don't think it will affect you negatively or warrant any sort of explanation. However, you can certainly provide an explanation if you want to be sure the committee members understand your reason for withdrawing from school.

Good luck,
Lisa
