Highest GMAT= 690; Highest Subscores = 700

by lionj84 » Tue Jul 21, 2009 12:26 pm
I have a question regarding what I should show as my GMAT score on my resume/application to schools.

I took the GMAT twice. My highest score was a 690 (M: 44, V:40); however, if you add my highest math & verbal subscores between both my exams, I would have scored a 700 (M: 46, V: 40).

That being said, would it be imprudent to show a 700 as my GMAT score in my resume/applications? In other words, will schools look at my highest subscore, or will they just care about the 690?

I know this is a really technical question, but since it pertains to the difference between a 690 & a 700, I figured it would be worth it to ask...

Thanks.

Dear lionj84,

You will use your highest total score, not a score that you create from two separate tests. Most schools will only use the GMAT test with the highest total score, and you want to the score you report on your applications to match what the official score report says. Finally, you should not be putting your GMAT score on your resume at all. It is not a valid measure for job opportunities.

Good luck,
Lisa
