OG 12 question.

OG says the following sentence is incorrect :

When the kids went to sleep,he slept like a log.


Whats wrong with it?

who went to sleep? one of the kids? or another person


I think it is a missplaced modifier, it probably should go like this:

He slept like a log, after the kids went to sleep.

not sure though

no, they say the problem is pronoun agreement.

The correct form should be:

When the kids went to sleep, they slept like logs.


I cant figure out wat's wrong with

When the kids went to sleep, he slept lika a log.


Do they mean to say, because the noun "kids" is plural , "log" should be "logs"....

I somehow can't digest the rule...

the pronoun does not agree in number. In the first part of the sentence we are talking about the kids(plural in number),hence he should be replaced by they and log should be replaced by logs. In case we want to keep he as it is, the sentence becomes awkward because of the absence of the noun he is referring to. So i guess the best guess should be

When the kids went to sleep, they slept like logs.

Oh I see, well here is what I think,

When the Kids went to sleep, HE slept like a log ***Plural VRS Singular

When the Kids went to sleep, THEY slept like logs***Plural VRS Plural

The sentence should all be in plural from beginning to end, and in the number one, the first part starts talking about more than one kid in other words plural, and then goes saying HE which is only one person and singular.

The second one starts the same way but later goes on and talks about THEY all the Kids... So this one keeps the whole sentence plural.
