Attention GMAT Verbal Punters ! ! ! ! ! !

Hi All,

I am new to this forum. Was the COO of a well known company but am recently shown the door in this recession. Its a bit humiliating but guess what ? Blessing in disguise........ I am all geared up for Harvard now as I am forced to take break after a long and satisfying career.

But, the issue is that I recently gave the gmat (studing after a very long time). Scored a dismal 570 ( Maths 42, Verbal 27) down from 600 earlier(Maths 38, Verbal 34).

Need some advice on the "verbal" and would appreciate if someone can share a study plan. I have exactly one month to prepare before I join my new assignment. I have charted two weeks for verbal preparation. Hope it is ok. Please feel to recommend material/courses. Also please advice only if the plan really works ( and hence the advice needed from experts).

My answer to your PM:

Two weeks is not a lot of time to dramatically improve upon verbal. Since your range is somewhere in the low 30s, you'll need to work hard to push the score to the 40s. Remember: miracles don't happen overnight! Also, while you do want to focus on verbal, your quant demands its share of attention: I'd say a 60/40 split for verbal/quant will be a pretty good time allotment strategy.

For the moment, I can't provide any specific advice regarding your preparation plan, since you haven't mentioned:
- your weak spots
- the resources you've already used
